Halloween Look: Cute Emo

Halloween: Hermione Granger

In the magical world, she's an intelligent, straight A's student. In real life, she gets straight As too--plus she's rich and soooo glamorous. She's one of the most beloved witches and famous actresses. SHE'S GOT IT ALL. Not everyone can have a life like hers, but it won't harm to have a little fun on Halloween, will it?

So here's a guide on how to steal Hermione Granger's look.

HAIR

I found 2 helpful vids on Youtube. The first one is a tutorial on Hermione's everyday hair:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuBmquHXA9U&feature=video_response

The second one is about Hermione's hairstyle in Christmas ball:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHKOX0yRyQ8&feature=related

Makeup

Actually Hermione doesn't have heavy makeup on. So you can simply skip this or wear really natural makeup. Here are some tips:
  • Do NOT wear eyeliner on your waterline. It's way too noticeable. Remember you're trying to kepping everything natural?
  • If you have a few freckles, do NOT hide them with concealor. If you don't have any, dot some here and there on your face and nose with a brown pencil eyeliner.
  • To acheive Hermione's flawless+natural looking skin, I recommend BB cream.
  • Hermione has delicate eyebrows. You may wanna consider fixing your eyebrows.

Opps and another thing: if you can, try to carry a few books with you. That sounds like something Hermione would do. LOL

This is a pretty short article. Still, I hope this helped. Enjoy :)

Video: Subscribing, Requests, CONTEST!!!, and blah blah blah

Btw, since we have the video bar in the side, I wont be posting the video right in the blog. So either check the video bar for the video, or just click the blog post name and it will go right to the video =]

Some tips i gathered from the MyJellyBean forums

  • A zit remover
what you will need : a mixing bowl a whisk and some cotton swabs or Q tips same thing lol
Ingredients: 1 small packet Dry Yeast 8 OZ. spring water 1 lemon wedge

pour the yeast packet into a bowl add water a few drops ata time whisking well after each water addition. keep adding water until the mixture turns into a meduim thick paste (usually about 2 Tablespoons of water) then squeeze a few drops of lemon juice into the mix and stir again then wash your face and pat dry with a towel then put the mixture on your breakouts with a Q tip then wash it off in the mornign and u can use this for your back and chest to and i keep mine in a air tight container and it last for about a week in there.
  •  Put a layer of vaseline on any dry or hard skin on your feet, put socks on and sleep like that you'll wake up with nice
  • Here are four super easy masks for every skin type:

    * For normal to dry skin, mix together 2 to 3 teaspoons of bran, 1
teaspoon of olive oil and 1 egg yolk.

    * For oily skin, mix together 1 egg yolk and a few drops of lemon juice.

    * For dry skin, mix together 2 teaspoons cornstarch, 1 teaspoon of honey
and a few drops of strong chamomile tea (cooled).

    * For dehydrated skin, squeeze juice from half a cucumber and mix with 2
teaspoons of cornstarch and 1 teaspoon of olive oil.

    Facial Scrub (Good for blackheads)

    1 part baking soda
    1 part water

Mix together into a paste. Gently scrub
blackheads for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse off.
Use once or twice a week.

    Natural Scrub For Oily Skin

    1 part sea salt
    1 part lemon juice

Mix into a paste and gently scrub face for
1 to 2 minutes. Rinse off. Interestingly,
you would think this would be very drying
to your skin, but I've found it actually
leaves your skin feeling clean, refreshed,
and soft. Use once a week to remove
    dead skin cells.

Toner (Problem Skin) - A few drops of tea
tree oil & 1/4 cup distilled water. This is absolutely
awesome in fighting nasty pimples! Mix the oil and
water together and store in a sealed bottle.
Shake well before using. Soak a cotton ball
with the mixture and apply to just-cleaned skin.
    Use after washing skin.

    Good website-- http://possumsal.homestead.com/skincare.html

    Conditioner (Oily Hair) - 1 lemon & 1/4 cup
cider vinegar. Wash, slice and de-seed lemon. Whir lemon in a
blender to a smooth pulp. Filter through muslin. Mix with
vinegar. After shampooing, blot hair with towel and rub
mixture into scalp. Leave on 5 - 10 minutes, then rinse
    with cool water.
    feet lol.

Black and white pictures

I was eating a freezie yesterday and I thought It would be the perfect photo op. What I'm wearing: Just a simple yellow hoodie tee with shades and dark wash flared out jeans with tennis shoes from zinc. Don't I look so serious for a non-serious girl? LOL!!!

How to get a healthy looking glow on your legs.

Okay, so, everyone wants a healthy looking legs, you know, smooth looking, golden, and all that good stuff. So i'm going to do the honor of telling you guys a good way to get that!

Step 1: It'd be good to have a good razor to shave with. A smaller one and a larger one.

Step 2: ALWAYS shave using shaving cream, it will make the WORLD of a difference! I would try to find one with vitamin E and that is used for moisturizing.

Step 3: Find a good body washer and exfoliator. i recommend Carees and the any DOVE, they work wonders!

Step 4: After your show it is IMPORTANT to put lotion on, everywhere. I recommend and found that Pink body lotion the super soft lotion gives you a creamy clean feeling.

and wahla! after one or two times of doing this you should begin to see the difference!

Enjoy your glow
Taylor.

3 tips from around the beautynet

Hey Girlies,
And these are today's tips:

From Wikihow:
For under eye bags, cucumbers actually do work. Also, keep some spoons in freezer, and put them under your bags for a bit - that will help reduce.

From Wikihow(Again):
Makeup
Elementary School: Just light eyeshadow and lipgloss.
Middle School: Lipgloss, blush, light eyeshadow, mascara, concealer for acne.
High School and on: Do whatever you want, just don't go crazy with black.
Lips: To make lips fuller, put lipgloss or lipstick heaviest on the center of the bottom lip, then gradually lighter as you go out. with lip liner; always use a lighter color than your lipstick
Eyes: I love gold eyeshadow. It compliments brown hair beautifully. blue eyeliner and eyeshadow brings out the green in peoples eyes. Make sure you curl your eyelashes BEFORE you apply mascara.
Skin: Foundation is a must if you have redness, bruising, or scars on your face.It may not cover up as well as concealer, but it gives a more natural finish. Blush is best applied on the apples of your cheeks or on the highest part of you cheekbones. Only use blush, though, if you need it. Some people have color in their cheeks naturally, and some people don't. Use an oil free concealer.

From the MyJellyBean Forums:
Plucking your eyebrows
So many of you barely have any. I might as well save the ones who've still got them

Where they should start:Vertically(up) from the inner corner of your eye.
Where does the arch be?:Vertically from the middle of your eye
And where does the brow end? : Diagonally outwards from the outer corner of your eyes.
Shape: Brush eyebrow hairs upwards. All the little hairs that's don't go up with the majority, should be plucked. NEVER PLUCK THE TOP OF YOUR BROWS
Thickness: If you have a problem with thicker eyebrows, brush hair up, and trim the visibly longer hair. Repeat by brushing hairs down and trimming the same.

Note: These tips are not me talking. There are from the sources which is I show before the tip. Btw, If you wonder why lots of these tips are from wikihow, It's because I believe wikihow.com is one of the BEST sources to learn how to do anything pratically. So you should definatly check out that site.

3 daily tips from around the beautynet

Ok, As promised I have 3 (actually 4 today, special treat =]) tips I found when surfing the web for tips for my mini BTS(BackToSchool) makeover!

From Seventeen Get Advice!:
"i totaly reccomend a bright fun color of nail polish, try forever 21! You should also buy something great from sephora, i reccomend urban decay brand for a fun look or bare essentials for a natural everyday look. Dont forget jewlery, forever 21 has some GREAT accessories and its so inexpensive! Have fun shopping and happy late birthday!"

From a Wikihow Article:
"ALWAYS, always carry a real designer purse. Knockoffs for clothes are OKAY, but for a handbag? No way! If you carry around a real designer purse, people will assume that the rest of your clothes are designer as well. (It’s not a falsity!) Yes…they are very expensive and you will probably have to save your money for a long time to afford one or two. But, if you are on a budget try Dooney and Bourke, as they are usually less expensive than the others – think around $100-$150 for a small bag. Coach is a good choice as well, and is consistently becoming the standard for a quality designer bag. It is also slightly cheaper than the others. However, everyone loves a little Louis Vuitton. Splurge on either that or a Prada bag, as everyone recognizes these labels and can make you feel like a million bucks. But you don't really need to carry a designer purse!"

From Wikihow:
"Put Vaseline on your eyelashes every night. It can replace mascara."

And 1 more....

From Moi!:
If your shopping online at eyeslipsface.com, use coupon code FREEFIVE to get $5 dollars off which really helps considering most of their stuff is $1 or use code FLOPS to get a free pink nail polish and ELF flip flops. Note: You can't use more than one code at a time!

Hope you enjoy!

Peace and Hugs,

Sarah

BP: try it!

You know what fad I am absolutely in love with? Buffalo Plaid! If you ask me, you can never have too much. Personally, I have a white shirt, a blue shirt, a blue belt, a white skirt, and a purple purse. Hopfully I'll be getting a jacket soon (fingers crossed!).

So you may be thinking, "I wish I could wear buffalo plaid..."

Well I'm here to tell you, you can! It's as easy as finding the right item, the right color, and the right thing to go with it!

A buffalo plaid, button down shirt (easily found at Dillard's, Macy's, and Delia's) is always classy, especially in white. I like to wear mine with a cute graphic tee, brightly colored of course, underneath. (See pic for example) And if you ask me, some darkwash skinnies will go with any buffalo plaid button down.

Now if you're going to go for a skirt, white is best. That way you can wear it with any shirt or jacket. My favorite one came from Forever 21. If you want to go for a very high fashion look with your skirt (make sure it's high waisted!), tuck a cami into it, throw a cardigan over your cami, and then put a large belt over your skirt.

Another amazing buffalo plaid oufit is a dress. I adore those dresses with a plain gray on top, a thin black belt, and then a high waist of gray buffaloe plaid. Some black flats to play it up, or some black converse to play it down, and you're ready for anything!

So now that I've given you some tips on how to make an outfit with the best of buffalo plaid, let me warn you: Buffalo plaid does NOT go with Buffalo plaid. Too much of it suffocates the rest of your outfit, and makes you look washed out. And we don't want that, now do we?

PS: I'll be posting my first 3 tips from around the beautynet (aka beauty stuff on the internet)!!!

Lemon honey

Now I'm suffering from sore throat. I always like to drink lemon honey when I have sore throat. It makes me feel better. But do you know that lemon honey also works for skin? Make a lemon honey face mask and you'll know!

Extract 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Then add a tablespoon of honey and mix together. Leave this mask for 10-20 minutes and wash your face with warm water.

Optional ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of milk

This mask will moisturize your skin and help to maintain soft and smooth skin. Have fun!

School Night/Morning Routine

Everyone needs a morning routine, especially if you want to be organized and fresh in the morning for school, which I used to have a problem with, but every since I started a routine, It's so much easier to get ready and fresh for school.
Night:
  • Get home work done
  • Pick out your outfit and accessories (make sure to iron too!)
  • Wash your face
  • Use your acne medicine if you have one
  • Set your alarm
  • Get your beauty sleep (8 to 10 hours at least!)

Morning:
  • Make sure you wake up an hour- 30 minutes BEFORE school starts so you have plenty of time to get ready. It's also helpful to use an alarm clock or radio to wake up.
  • Wake up!
  •  Take a shower
  • Get the clothes that you picked out on
  •  Do your makeup as quoted from Alison's school makeup post:
"1. Wash your face
2. Apply concealer under your eyes if you have dark circles and on your zits if you have any.
3. Apply pressed powder all over your face
4. Apply eyeliner on upper lids.
5. Curl your lashes
6. Apply mascara from the bottom of your lashes
7. Get out of the door! My advice would be just do the basic part of your makeup in you are in a hurry. If you want eyeshadow/blush/lipgloss, you can always do some touchups at school."
  • Eat your breakfast
  • Pack everything you need into your bag (double check! I have left my purse at home TOO many times!)
  • Off you go! Have a nice day at school =]

How to Make Your Eyes Look BIGGER

So the whole title should be How to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger Apart From Opening Your Eyes Wide. lol

What you need:
mascara
dark eye shadow
shimmering eyeliner in light color
Dark eyeliner (pencil)

Let's start...
  1. Use the dark eye shadow to define the socket line of your eyes. Blend well.
  2. Apply dark eyeliner on both upper and bottom lids. About the upper lines, remember to apply them thicker towards the outer corner of your eyes and thinner towards the inner cornerSmudge the lines a little so they look natural. This can also enlarge your eyes visually and define the shape at the same time.
  3. Apply shimmering and light eyeliner in the inner corner of your eyes. This can open them up and give your look a sweet touch.
  4. Curl your lashes.
  5. Put on Mascara. Enjoy!

This one is pretty easy to do. Try it yourself!

Alison

Now for about me... I'm a freshman from South-East Louisiana. I enjoy movie making, soccer, and journalism. And fashion/beauty (duh). Lame knockknock jokes are my passion. I LOVE Boys Like Girls, especially Martin Johnson. I don't really know if there's anything else to tell you...

Bact-to-school makeup in a hurry

How long does it take you to do your makeup in the morning? I guess some of you may need to rush to school and there’s simply not enough time to finish your perfect makeup! I’m here to tell you not to worry about this. Why? Coz’ I’m gonna teach you a quick, easy yet cute back-to-school makeup!

Steps for a longer version
1. Wash your face
2. Apply concealer under your eyes if you have dark circles and on your zits if you have any.
3. Apply foundation all over your face
4. Apply pressed powder all over your face
5. Apply eyeliner on upper lids. Make it as close to your lash line as possible. Slightly pull your eyes to apply it easier. The line should be thicker on the outer corner of your eye and thinner on the inner corner
6. Apply eyeliner on bottom lids. Again, make it as close to your lash line as possible.
7. Apply eyeshadow. Since this part is different for girls with different skin color and eye color and face structure, I can’t tell.
8. Curl your lashes
9. Apply mascara from the roots of your lashes
10. A little blush on your cheeks and forehead
11. Put on lipgloss and finished!

Um...sounds complicated and long? Here’s a short version!
1. Wash your face
2. Apply concealer under your eyes if you have dark circles and on your zits if you have any.
3. Apply pressed powder all over your face
4. Apply eyeliner on upper lids.
5. Curl your lashes
6. Apply mascara from the roots of your lashes
7. Get out of the door! My advice would be just do the basic part of your makeup in you are in a hurry. If you want eyeshadow/blush/lipgloss, you can always do some touchups at school.

xoxo,
Alison

P.S. I know this would be much better with a clip but I don't have one at the moment. Sorry about that. Hope you still find this useful.

Cowlicks...Hair Bumps...

Don’t know what to call them, but I know that I hate them! Any of you have them? I have one right at my part, so my bangs never go flat. And I have another on the back of my part. Horrible isn’t it?
Well if you have one on your bangs, I come with good news! When your hair is wet, but some hair wax in it (not too much of your hair will look greasy). Then get a brush and brush forward the top layer of hair, starting about three inches back. You know you did it right if you look like Cousin It, haha. So now blow dry just that section, brushing it the whole time. Now you’ve started to train your hair flat! So now you can blowdry it the rest of the way. Okay, so then you’re going to part your hair the way you normally do (I like to part it about an inch to the right) Your bangs shouldn’t pop up as much now. If you have some fly-aways or they still pop up a bit, use some smoothing lotion (I like Got2b smooth operator hair lotion) and put a little bit in the palm of your hand. Loosly run it through all or your hair, and make sure not to put too much in one spot or else you’ll look greasy.
Your hair should look great now! Give me feedback on how well it worked for you!
